Funny we were talking about this at the match - just how many managers have evolved out of Fergie's ManU teams - Bruce, Keane, Ince, Robson, Strachan, Hughes and I'm sure there are more - but with the exception of Robson Robson Man of the Match, most of them seem to do a decent job...

I'm not arguing that it doesn't make you a top manager, but it does help you understand the modern game and the modern tactics. The list of failed big names as managers is endless, Wee Billy was not a good manager, neither were Alan Clarke, Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore, but the point I'm making specifically here is "Hang on a minute guys (and gals), we're crucifying them both it would seem before they've even drawn breath." Staunton was a very good pro. He's got his coaching badges and was ASSISTANT manager at Walsall. Then, out of the blue, he's manager of the RoI! WTF!? Result = Fish out of water. Well, what a suprise. The RoI FA should shoulder the blame for that one IMHO. Now he's back in his AM role, with a HUGE learning curve under his belt. Let's see what happens! They've got a week to get stuck in and start to work as a team. _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
