The current Beckford "situation" is simply the reality of Leeds United in
2009. Players will want to go to "better" clubs like Reading, Burnley,
Doncaster, Blackpool, Coventry........
If you are my age, that's a bizarre thing to behold.

I've always thought Beckford is at his best when he doesn't have time to
think. Scores some very special instinctive goals but
that penalty against Millwall and numerous times when he is running with
the ball he does some very odd things!

I guess he feels that at 25, with 2 and a bit good seasons behind him,
it is time to go up a division. There must be a few Championship teams
who will offer him at least as much if not more money. It all depends
what sort of offer Leeds deem acceptable. 2-3 Million at a guess, with a
year left on his contract.
Whether he is good enough even 1 level up is open to question, but he's
certainly earned the right to have a go, and has been pretty committed
to Leeds for the last 2 years, when he could have 'played-up' looking
for a move.
If he goes, we'll certainly miss his goals!
If we get the right offer he'll go I guess. If not, then we'll see how
it has gone by Christmas.
If he is still scoring and Leeds are looking good for promotion, then
the combination of going up a division and yet another improved offer in
lieu of that might tempt him to stay. If not we would probably lose a
million on his value by January.
