I tend to agree, laying the blame with beckford is wrong. If you have a look
though the leading goal scorer stats for league 1 it is easy to see where
the problem is.
In the top ten, Southampton have 2 (22 + 26 goals), Norwich have 2 (22 + 14)
and even bloody swindon have 2 (19 +15), we have Beckford in 4th place on
21.
Leeds do not have another striker that is capable of being as consistent as
our title rivals and that is where the problem is. Take beckford out of the
equation and we have nothing, teams that have one influential player tend to
come unstuck. Talk to any Liverpool fan and they will tell you that when
Gerrard does not play the results are better than when he does, when he is
on the pitch the players look to him to drive how the team play and he links
it all together. When he is not there, the team think for themselves and
there is better movement and passing. Leeds to do exactly the same thing
with Beckford.
Transfer listed or not Beckford needs to be producing the best football of
his career at the moment for the purely selfish reason of securing the best
weekly wage he can from his next contract (regardless of where it is), and
he will be aware of this.
As someone else has said, we were riding our luck during the early part of
the season, it is just getting evened out now. Personally I am still
confident that we will finish second, something that I would have been happy
with last August.
Right then, back to the Tramadol induced fuzziness.

Blaming it all on Beckford .... tut tut Sam.
Got to agree with Rich here. I've seen absolutely no evidence in the games
I've seen Beckford play since he withdrew his transfer request that he's
giving anything less than 100% at all times. He's making the same runs
he's always made, he's getting into the same positions to score/miss
chances and he's scoring goals. If some of the others were doing their
jobs half as well as he is we wouldn't be in this mess.
