Ron,

Since Gail and I are in the same boat (having tried to merge an old-style
source with a Source Writer source), I believe what she meant was that the
remnant of the original source detail is at least partially visible in the
Assigned Sources screen, but does not show in the Output box, and is not
accessible in any way. If you click on the Master Source, you get just that
- the Master Source. If you click on Source Detail, you get a new empty
Source Writer source detail entry box. Nothing, however, will enable access
to the old source detail, in spite of the fact that it is partially visible.

(Gee, this is hard to describe!)

I'm a little puzzled - have you tried to use Highlight and Ctrl + C to copy?
The mouse won't work.
