Stan, You said in your initial post that you are using then Legacy Charting. If you click "Chart Type" at the top you will see only two options for Descendant charts a full chart and a male only, both are in landscape formate cf. the Ancestor options. The answer, therefore, is that portrait is not available for the Descendant Chart. I believe that it has been requested, but clearly not yet completed.
Your printer set-up is quite different and independant.
