Hi Brian,

I actually change the "Alt Birth" event to "Disproven Birth". I don't add a
new one. Then in that event's notes, I explain why I'm disproving it.

For me, it's important to keep the Disproven Birth event in case I need it
for research comparisons in the future. I also keep it in case other
researchers claim their birth information is correct. If I retain the
Disproven Birth information in my event/fact list, I can easily respond to
them.

Finally, I will often mark the Disproven Birth event as private, so in my
polished reports, this event doesn't "get in the way".

Geoff

Subject: [LegacyUG] Disproven Birth?

Hi,
In the Legacy Training video "Researching with Legacy: Events and
Chronologies" Geoff Rasmussen gives an example of a person having
conflicting birth information. So, he creates an event titled "Alt
Birth". This I understand and can do. However he goes on to say that
afterwards if one resolves the conflict that one should enter a new
event called "Disproven birth". I cannot find this in the Events list.

How do others handle it when a conflict, such as a birth year, is
resolved? Should I create a custom event called "Disproven birth"?

Thanks,
Brian
