IIRC, the Toshiba W98 FDD driver is a zipped file that, when unzipped,
contains a readme file with explicit instructions on driver installation.
As I recall, it's not completely straightforward. You may need to delete
whatever may have showed up in Device Manager from your first attempt before proceeding.
........

Am I mistaken in assuming that what's needed is the Windows 98 floppy disk driver, listed only under the L110CT drivers on the Tosh support pages? I don't believe that the W95 FDD driver will give the functionality needed under W98.
........

The driver file I'm looking at is identified as "L110FDD8.exe", listed under
the L110CT drivers,
........

Huh... to make things fuzzier, I have a file named 'L100FDD8.exe', not 'L110FDD8.exe', in my Libretto driver archives, but I don't remember where I got it or why I stopped using it. The Toshiba USA driver download pages are a bit %#*!ed up, as there's nothing listed specifically for Win95/98 floppy drivers among the L100 driver downloads. Thus the confusion.

In the past serveral months I had benen setting up and troubleshooting that dead L110 MB, swapping the L100 & L110 MBs and setting up W98SE numerous times. Somewhere along the way when setting up the FDD, I started to heading to the folder on my G: drive where I'd extracted the drivers from the archive 'L100ctrl.exe' called 'Toshiba Windows 95 Controls for Libretto 100CT' on the Toshiba download pages, and it's been working fine. The FDD doesn't seem to be very particular about drivers.

But it seems any of the drivers we've mentioned should install fine by going through the process I outlined. I've don't recall running any such .bat file as John described.

The driver file I'm looking at is identified as "L110FDD8.exe", listed under
the L110CT drivers, and it's described by Toshiba as a self-extracting zip
file. This is the one I used, and have had no problems, with W98se on a L100CT.

BTW, the Tosh support page is now including the U100 as a choice when
selecting the Libretto category. There's nothing really there yet but a bunch of
generic service bulletins, and a users manual.
