Try the PXE stuff in redhat 6.1. (For some reason, I'm just fascinated by
netbooting; even if 2gig IDE "system" drives cost nothing.

Go look at 6.1. Its pretty slick. (Yes, it detects hardware.)

I'll state again: making a bad linux distribution is a hell of a lot of 
work. Making a good one can boogle the mind.

You probably want to work on just local modifications (or extensions) to
whatever is the distribution you like best.

(Add ssh, turn off most of inetd.conf, use nis+, etc etc is what I'm
trying to add to 6.0^h1 :)
