Yeah, I can see where it can be courteous...and maybe even a bit safer.

But then you get into the whole liberty issue where, just because it may be a little safer, does that really give someone the right to require that you adhere to the standards they feel add resolve.
Should we really REQUIRE people to wear helmets on their motorcycles? Or seatbelts in their cars? Some say yes, others no.

Fact remains that it is one more point of power allotted to the police to legitimately pull you over and reprimand you. And for the officers that abuse their power, one more excuse as to why he/she was harassing you. It is the ability for the State or Government to be able to make decisions for you. They start off by taking small things...

But I am not overly worried about the law, just kind of disgusted.

I would have to agree its just another law that people can get pulled over with. But if your not doing anything wrong in the first place, why worry about getting pulled over =P? (Ducks the eggs being thrown) But really I think its nicer that when the weather is kinda crappy outside that people have their headlights on, its alot easier to see that idiot who's doing something wrong (unless they dont have thier headlights on.)

Ridiculous, just another abuse of power to help the state generate money.
The police are supposed to be there to protect people, that is why they were dreamed up.
This is not protecting but more harassing.
It is not supposed to be about bringing in money...but somehow it always ends up there.

>According to this state employee, the Officer who gave him the ticket
said he and his fellow Officers do not like the new law. He personally
felt the new law should've been advertised before subjecting
unsuspecting California motorists to it. He also told him that
California State Legislators dreamed up this law to help close the
budget gap or something like that.

I'm not crazy about the new law, either. Just another excuse to pull people over and generate revenue for the state.

At least with the majority of new cars coming with DRL, you don't have
to worry as your headlights are on all the time.

Expect to see car manufactures add a feature where the headlights turn
on automatically when your wipers have been on for a little while.
