I thought I'd let you guys know that I do have extensive IRC administration experience and would be glad to contribute in the IRC channel in any way that's needed. I also learned programming by writing bots for irc lol so I'd be glad to get one started for the jax lug channel if that's something that would be of any interest.
I do have experience operating cameras and doing live productions with video switch boards etc so if that would come in handy at all I'd be glad to contribute there as well. I don't immediately see how it would be applicable to the needs of the jax lug though. A final thought is, we don't _have_ to use freenode as an irc server. Perhaps one of us could even host an ircd at irc.jaxlug.org. I'm not real crazy about freenode once they lost lilo. Lots of people thought lilo was a bad person because of his donation spending habits, but I have never met a better IRC administrator, ever. He's missed by me for sure, and I think anyone who's been a part of freenode long enough knows that the way it's ran now is completely inconsistent with its initial direction. With regard to what day to have it on, I have a crappy job in the sense that I have no guarantee of my schedule, so I can not really say what a good day or time would be for me. The only guaranteed day I have off is sunday, and I'm not so sure I'd even want to do it on sunday so no input on that subject.
