never a truer word ...  the corrolarry (sp?) of htis howevr is that no
matter how good a film editor you are, if you don;t know which button to
press on the Avid then you just cant do it ... similarly even if you have
read and understood every word of the Avid tutorial if you are still a
crap editor it will just help you be crap .. but quicker ;-)

we had both sorts ... and fortunately we also had some highly skilled ,
BAFTA winning editors who had taken to the new technology like ducks to
water ... sadly these days all we ever made was low budget shite ( real
rooms,  Aisleys barbecue bible .. who'll do the pudding .. kitchen
invaders .. ) jeezus .. at least adverts are usually different and well
paid.

ahh Steenbeck did do an Avid controller .. a plug in box with a real
Steenbeck handle .. work of art it was .. on a shelf gathering dust
somewhere now...

but do you miss sorting through trim bins trying to find that shot
because the bit of camera tape on the end had fallen off??
