'M' stands for "Mod1" of "Modifier 1" (X11 keycode)
There are two Alt keys on a keyboard.  Not all keyboard maps have both Alt
keys generating Mod1.  If we put Alt in the menu which key do you mean?
X11 considers the rightmost Alt key to be called "Alt_gr" (IIRC)
