I don't get Shaw.
Why would they think people would pay $55 a month for their service when
it would be cheaper to just keep your land line, pay for call display
and voice mail (or package) and get a long distance company like WinTel
(25 cents flat fee per call long distance in Canada and the US and 3 or
4 cents a minute to the UK and France) and not bother with having
problems with internet/phone interference?
The only people I can see benefiting with Shaw would be people who
really travel a lot and want to bring their phone with them where ever
they have internet access or you're living with a bunch of room mates
who have nasty habits of calling friends/family in Canada and the US and
not paying their long distance portion of the phone bill.
I *have* VOiP and it ain't all that great, voice-quality-wise. The only
reason I bother keeping it is 'cause of laziness and I admit I do like
not being bothered by telemarketers since I don't think VOiP numbers are
published (yet). The service has been so spotty that I keep the land
line as back up and for my WinTel long distance plan. But the phone's
ringer is off so I use it only for outgoing calls.
I'm just really curious to know the marketing strategy behind this push,
is all.

Hi,
I am just wondering if anybody here has had the Shaw Digital Phone
service installed, and if so, how is it working for you ?
I have my Macs hooked up to the Shaw cable modem and am wondering if you
have experienced any interference with your internet service since
having the digital phone service installed ?
