Hi,

I am just wondering if anybody here has had the Shaw Digital Phone service installed, and if so, how is it working for you ?

I have my Macs hooked up to the Shaw cable modem and am wondering if you have experienced any interference with your internet service since having the digital phone service installed ?

The bigger question would be : how does cable compare to dsl? Around me in Scarborough, cable absolutely sucks. Totally undependable with service from rogers to match (used to be shaw but service and reliability is the same.) My dsl hasn't failed me except once, when the line was out, and is far more reliable than cable. I guess the question is, if you had cable would you rely on it for a phone line as opposed to dsl.

The next question for dsl folks is : how do you get a voip line by itself without having bell as your normal phone company? Is it possible to have a voip line and a dsl connection without having bell involved at all? This is the ultimate attraction for cable, you never need bell involved in any of the steps along the way. Both internet and phone from the cable company. Has anyone actually taken the huge step away from bell?
