Since you're needing help in OS 9 you'll find that Norton Utilities is also a good choice. It saved my behind in OS 9 many, many times! [1] <http://www.symantec.com/region/nl/product/macintosh/nu_index.html> At eBay it seems Norton 8.0 is going for 25 - 35 USD from US sellers (make sure you ship USPS Ground to avoid unpleasant surprises on purchases over 20 CAD). Past auctions: <http://search-completed.ebay.ca/search/search.dll?sofocus=so&sbrftog=1&from=R10&catref=C12&satitle=norton+utilities&sacat=3792%26catref%3DC6&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search&floc=1&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D3&fis=2&so=Show+Items> Current auctions: <http://search.ebay.ca/search/search.dll?sofocus=so&sbrftog=1&catref=C6&from=R10&satitle=norton+utilities&sacat=3792%26catref%3DC6&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D2&floc=1&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D3&so=Show+Items> [1] Note: there's a lot of bad will amongst Mac users towards Norton and some people have reported bad experiences with Norton Utilities in Mac OS X (though, I suspect that their "bad experiences" were more of a nature that they'd done something so stupid/reckless that it would've hosed their drive anyway). I've used it in Mac OS 9 and up to OS X 10.2 and never had a problem (of course, I was never foolish enough to install the extensions... I limited myself to the applications) PS AFAIK Norton has stopped providing new releases for Mac OS X 10.4.
