Because this situation regularly comes up it's worth posting these messages to the list.
As for changing thread titles... it's a bloody nuisance. At least if the thread name is the same I can conveniently delete or ignore it. With a million and one bracketed name changes the number of messages just grows (which is why I'm not changing this thread title, even though I'm sure you'd want me to).
