Good luck; but looking at the ebay vintage Mac section, and the number of unbid-for items, I fear that interest in old Macs is at a low ebb at the moment.

Last time I tried to move any 68k Macs on eBay I was barely breaking even. I thing LC475s were moving for around £7 + postage, I failed completely to even sell my Performa 450. The only one I've made anything on recently was a 660av in it's original box, but you could understand that.

I've decided to freeze my collection and hang onto what I have, mostly because the only viable alternative is to landfill them, and frankly I couldn't do that - I have too much time and care invested in the machines.

My advice to anyone thinking of selling them is prepare to make nothing unless they are unusual or rare. You;d be better off hiring some dry heated storage somewhere in the corner of a warehouse and packing them up and sotring them for when they are more sought-after.

Sadly the same is starting to become true for all Beige Apple hardware. EVerything up to Beige G3s is now fetching damn all. You can pickup some tidy machines on eBay for less then the items actual postage easily now. Beige G3 desktops for as little as £5 +postage anyone??

I think the technology gap has opened up massively with OS X and the move to Intel. Suddenly using OS X and System 7.1 no longer seems similar or familiar. Back in the days of 9.1 it wasn't really all that different, just slower on the older machines. Now a new Mac and an old MAc are different kettles of fish altogether. In some ways this is a good thing, a revolution was needed, but in other ways it's turned the Vintage Mac market into dust, unless you are buying.

Still, love your old Macs and look after them, because many others still don't, so they might be worth something one day!
