Although your multiple libraries does do what you want, I fear you
are missing the conceptual metaphor of the iTunes Library and
playlists. Your library is just that, your library of everything you
have available to you. It's a single source flat list of all the
stuff in iTunes. If you think you have something, you can look for
it there. playlists and Smart playlists, are how you organize your
collection. Most people use the Genre field to organize their music.
For example, I have several smart playlists that contain Rock/pop
music, Classical, Jazz, Christmas, etc. These use rules and get
updated whenever I buy or import a CD. So, I urge you to consider
exploring playlists and smart playlists, as you noted, you now have
to worry about where you are when you buy or import a CD. Theres no
advantage to what your are doing with multiple libraries and plenty
of drawbacks. Personally, I never even look at the Library at all. I
always go to my specific sections to get the type of music I desire.
Long term, I think you'll enjoy iTunes and your music more if you
start using playlists.

Hey there, Ricardo! I just wanted to let you know that I have my
Christmas and non-Christmas libraries now, and it seems to
have worked perfectly. Worst case scenario, I may have lost 7 songs
in the process, but in light of the way I was doing it, I
think that's pretty darned good. And, since not even I can figure
out what 7 songs are missing, they couldn't have been
important. Only reason I suspect anything is missing is because
before I started, there were 736 items in the itunes library,
and now, the default library has 500 and the Christmas one has 229.
In any case, I really appreciate your help.
Now, 1 final question. When I buy stuff in future, should I be in
the library where I want it to go? In other words, if I
want another Christmas song, should I make sure that library is
loaded at the time, and if I buy regular stuff, I don't want
it to end up in the Christmas library. So, I guess the question is,
will new purchases only go into the active library?

I would assume a library since you also have an option to export
playlists. Why not export it and find out?

After you've created, and added your music to a playlist go to it
in the sources table. Then VO right arrow over to the
music table and interact. Each song has a checkbox. Just find the
box and uncheck them manually or, after you interact with
the table press command A to select all then bring up the context
menu with VO shift M and select uncheck selections.
To create a new iTunes library hold down the option key while
iTunes is opening. A dialog will ask you to choose or create
a new library. Pick create. Then all you have to do is just import
only your christmas music.

What you ask is not possible. For a song to be in a playlist, it
need to be in the main music playlist. But, there is a way you can
have all the christmas music skipped if your just letting the music
in your music playlist play. After you've moved your christmas songs
to a playlist, just uncheck them. This is as close as you can
get to what your trying to achieve in iTunes. Well, now
that I think about it a little more, I don't see why you couldn't
make a brand new music library and just put your christmas
music in it. Actually, thats probably the best way to go here.
