I have millions of death records for several NW states (points) and other
layers of parcels, census blocks, rather large attribute databases with
hundreds of variables, and I run these on a modest Pentium III. I have had
no problem. I did try to do this in AV and its not possible. Too slow, limit
of 255 variables in the attribute data, etc.

First let me say that your programming and hints passed along here
are
very impressive.
Larry Teeters and I installed Maptitude in Calcasieu Parish La. that has app
130,000 parcels (correct
me if I am wrong Larry). It was a ArcInfo e00 file that we imported to be
used
by ordinary people.
It displays rather quickly on Windows Pent II 500's. In compressed or .cdf
it
is very quick in just one
layer; NO TILES.
That file is almost 90 mgs. The taxdata that is joined to it is over 80
mgs.
In the smaller parishes (counties) that I have digitized of 30,000 parcels a
good computer will pop them
almost immediately.
Therefore, I think Maptitude will handle your project with ease. If you are
going to be digitizing the complete
150,000 parcels just save your work regular as I am sure you do. I save by
date.
