Ouch. I use both Maptitude and ArcView, and find them both useful. I am a
little surprised by a 'touch' of bitterness that I am sensing in some of
these messages. Sometimes it may be that the 'guys' who are using AV are
doing so because the work they are doing and the data available for that
work is in AV and AI files. The state of Maine has a great agency called
Maine Office of GIS, which has produced an amazing amount of AI data,
considering the size and relative backwardness (at least perceived) of the
state. At least partly for that reason, all the GIS work in the state, (and
there is a considerable amount of that being done in Maine) is done in AV. I
do not feel that all of us doing this work are just there for the career and
not to get anything done. But no hard feelings.
