Louis, you really exceed some new depth in ad-hominem bullshit here. There is not one political, let alone "Marxist" grain of content in what you write below. Instead of replying to Karadjis, you 1. Gratuitously attribute his views to "the Greenleft group in Australia". 2. Gratuitously allege that they impose their (unknown) views on the Balkan wars on "the rest of the left" as "litmus tests". 3. Criticize this "Greenleft group" for "allowing" Karadjis to "become their spear carrier" (don't you notice the racism in that metaphor?) on this issue. 4. Forge some analogy between Zionist propagandist Wiesel and Michael Karadjis. What nauseous demagogy! 5. Not least, your absurd charge of "fanaticism and self-righteousness" against Karadjis's point-by-point refutation of his critics is, as always, devoid of any attempt to grapple with the substance of his argument. Your comments here are a disgrace to a list that purports to have something to do with Marxism. Karadjis is the only member of this tendency who has ever written about this matter and the rest of the group is content to allow him to speak rather stridently about the matter in their name. A most curious phenomenon, allowing a single member to become their spear carrier on a matter that would seem to engage every member. Over the past 12 years since this mailing list has existed, I can't recall a single DSP member ever taking up this question. It is all the more perplexing since comrade Karadjis has elevated the differences into something approximating those between Elie Wiesel on one side and David Irving on the other. Karadjis is a kind of Marxist Wiesel calling out the "holocaust deniers" on the socialist left, including me, for disagreeing with him about what happened in Sarajevo, etc. Frankly, I find his intervention on these matters most troubling and hardly worth answering since they smack of fanaticism and self-righteousness. Thank goodness, the rest of the members of his group have never waded into this controversy, exhibiting a degree of common sense altogether lacking in comrade Karadjis. ________________________________________________ Send list submissions to: Marxism@lists.econ.utah.edu Set your options at: http://lists.econ.utah.edu/mailman/options/marxism/rfidler_8%40sympati co.ca ________________________________________________ Send list submissions to: Marxism@lists.econ.utah.edu Set your options at: http://lists.econ.utah.edu/mailman/options/marxism/archive%40mail-archive.com
