Hello Les:
Regarding your red font queries:

1. Les - You ask: "1. what is "it"?    Marxist-Leninist???,  Stalinist???, ???"

My reply is that I was referring to Charles' original comment, when he rejected
the label of Stalinist saying: "I agree (somewhat - although not entirely and
universally) that "communists who respect the work of Stalin rarely take it (
the term "Stalinist" ) as anything but a slur."

2. Here Les, I do not know what you mean - other than as I had predicted - you
are objecting that Louis was not a Trotskyist. I shall when I can, look up
those positions of his as stated in the links you send.

But . . . in the meantime, Well if you object, let me simply phrase it that
Louis' positions seemed to me - far more aligned with those of Trotsky than
otherwise. That still may not satisfy you - but that was my distinct feeling.
It may relate to your point 3:

3. You say: "One of his favorite people from the Utah version of this list was
a Mark Jones, who i'd guess would consider himself a Stalinist or at least a
defender of the Russian revolution. I had assumed you were familiar with, and a
subscriber to, the older version of Marxmail. Perhaps i'm wrong in that regard."

My reply:
I suspect virtually everyone here is a " a defender of the Russian revolution."
- at least in the years 1917-1921 or so. . . No?

I was on the older version of MM, but I was also very intensely engaged in my
day-job. That was also quite onerous with a lot of night-calls on top of day
duty. So I missed swathes of mails, and frankly some of the longer exchanges I
did not have the requisite band-width. I certainly knew of the name Mark Jones,
but I could not 'place him'.  Again - I'll look at the links you sent as I can.

4. Les:
" i would recommend against accommodation. i ask everyone i talk to (privately)
about the list (most of the moderators, plus others): "has it become too
Trotskyist???"

My Reply :
Honestly, asking "has it become too Trotskyist???" - It is like asking 'how
long is a piece of string'. . . Frankly it is what it is.  I choose to remain
on it at least for now, although I do wonder at times it should be admitted.
As for the choice of the word "accommodation" - as I say, the term Stalinist
itself is for me, usually a 'category'. If I sense otherwise I object openly.
I am not talking about accommodating my views on the history of the USSR.

But to react each time the word comes across my screen would rapidly deplete my
glycogen energy stores and simply be quite tedious.

Be well Les,
H
