548 is the port used by APPLESHARE, the file server protocol. APPLETALK is a separate Network protocol and doesn't normally run on IP. AppleShare can run over AppleTalk or IP.
Not to belabor the point, but to show how confusing this is, I always thought AppleShare was the software. The "AppleShare" icon in the Mac OS 6-9 chooser, and the server software Apple offered.
I thought Apple Filing Protocol (AFP) and Printer Access Protocol (PAP) ran over DDP or TCP/IP. If you want a look at the alphabet soup, go to

Plus, at one time, AppleTalk was called LocalTalk, which could mean the networking protocols or the actual cable it ran over.
