That possibility is being checked by my ISP, but with Outlook Express
or the news client in Internet Explorer or Netscape, the messages go
through just fine.
There is definitely some kind of a software compatibility problem
here. My question is: how does MD2 differ from its MS counterpart
regarding communications with news servers? Theoretically, if
everyone follows the rules, those commands should be the same. But
when has Microsoft ever followed convention?
Or could it just be an erroneous setting in some configuration file on
my ISP's system? I hope to find that out in a couple of days. My
ISP's SA is going to completely wipe me off the system and open up a
new, clean account. I will do clean installs on my system -- TCP/IP
stack, newsreader/e-mailer, browser -- with newly created config
files, not copies of the old ones. A lot of work, but sometimes to
find or solve a problem, the only way is to start at the beginning.
