Daniel,

The Z24 crank will not fit into the L20b block without modifying it.  It will clash on the counterweights I believe so enough material needs to be removed to allow a 0.500" feeler guage through.  The problem with using the Z24 crankshaft in the L20b block is that with the relatively short 145.9mm L20b conrods (compared to 165mm stock Z24) low end torque is improved (which this motor is already very strong in), but the upper rev range is reduced.  The other thing to note is that taking material off an already only partially counterbalanced crankshaft won't help revs either.  I'd spend some money getting the setup balanced well if I were you.  For more information on an LZ24 see http://home.att.net/~jason510/ben.htm

You need to find a Z20 timing cover to be able to use your NAPS/Z head with this motor.

If you want to figure the internals out then as I have said many times before there is a very good page with information about frankenstein L/Z motors at
http://home.att.net/~jason510/Motorspecs.htm and if you can't be bothered with pen and paper to work out the details try my Excel '97 engine calculator at http://members.dingoblue.net.au/~oddicy/datsun.html

Good luck.

Guys what I was actually thinking was to stroke an L20 and use the top end from my Z-18et.  What parts would I use to do this with a reasonable comp ratio for turboing?

Daniel,

Use the manifolds and turbo. The MAF would be too small so an after market ECU would be the go. You have to do some machining on the manifolds as the port spacing is a little different on the Z24. But this is not a major problem. To fit the VG30 turbo/Z18ET onto the Z20 you have to elongate the manifold holes so the studs can fit as they are a few mm different spacings.  Bet it would kick!

Subject: 2.4L stroked engines

List,

I just finished watching the video serious fours & rotories and performance cars no.1 which had three 1600's in it.  One had a slightly worked Z-18et, one a standard FJ20det and the other a 2.4L stroked L20B with twin webers.  I was interested to see that the 2.4L NA engine dominated over the other 2 turboed cars.  What I want to know is what parts to use(including anything off my Z-18et engine) to build a turboed 2.4L, including aftermarket injection.  I reckon that it would be unstoppable on the road.  Thoughts/suggestions?
