Thanks for the reply Mark, 

but do you have any idea what colour/guage wire i should be looking for that comes 
from the dash warning light? Also, where on the alternator does it hook up to? I have 
three places, D+, D-, and the screw connected to the alt housing.
If the wire from the screw in the back isn't meant to go to earth then where should it 
go?

Sorry about all the questions but i am lost!
