He referred to the gearing of the transmissions, not the rear diff. The
transmission gearing is the same (more or less). I have an 85 and hope
to get some 2.47 gearing back there some day. As far as the diesels went
the Om617.95X was always paired with a 3.07 except the 85 which was
2.88. The OM617.91X was 3,47 and the OM616 and smaller was a 3.69  and
that is just off the top of my head.
