Used truck prices are stupid right now. 4 years old you're looking at $20-24k,
for $4,000 more I can buy brand new.
Toyota is the worst, 8 years old is $16-18k. I think few people were buying new
from say 2008 to about 2012 so there just isn't that much inventory in used
trucks. When I bought my Dakota there were a bunch of used trucks, same when I
bought my Ranger. Now every dealership has a few but not that many.

BS. Last year's models ALWAYS get discounted when the new year models
come out. Dealers do not make money hanging on to last year's inventory.

I would recommend buying used from a private seller. Dealers do this
every day and they know every trick for getting you to pay more than you
intended to. Watch out for dealers masquerading as private sellers. Or
maybe look at a place like CarMax. I wouldn't trust them either but
people I've talked to are happy with them.
