I would first try a "hardwire" to the relay. That wire can be 18
AWG. 

The glow plugs are on an 80 amp fuse, so you should have an
80 amp switch (very hard to find) and at least 12 AWG wire. I
used 8 AWG when I rewired my series glowplugs.

So, since an 80 amp switch is not convenient, a relay can be
used. Since you already have a relay, I would sure try to use it.
