The NYT story probably got its data from A4A. The story has its fingerprints all over it. Aviation lobbyists are some of the most successful in DC for better or worse. Actually I haven't thought GA pays its own way for a long time but I can't get beyond the fact that ATC was created specifically for commercial aviation and run at A4A's pleasure. But I think the entire debate misses the point because it is too interested in laying blame than in solving the problem. We need to privatize ATC. Others have done it. Why can't we? Successful aviation lobbyists who have captured congress. H/T to Robert Poole. We aren't making progress with this nonsense.
