Doesn't everyone guess these days by typing keywords
into Google or into search boxes? I don't think it's
practical to support URL guessing when the number of
URLs maintained is large.

Which of these is the "right" guess anyway:

http://example.com/bikes/parts/wheels.html
http://example.com/parts/bikes/wheels.html
http://example.com/parts/wheels/bikes.html

To me, guessing only works when the site is something
you're already familiar with. That's a tiny portion of
the readership?  I only guess portal URLs - that's still
possible for d.m.o.

Yesterday I was looking for Bill Dortch's cookie libraries.
I remembered it was www.hidaho.com, but when I got there:
d'oh! it's gone. So much for guesses.

I reckon using doc ID's takes a lot of heat out of the
d.m.o design. URL paths just aren't the big picture.
