Understandable, but it might actually improve performance to not be waiting for network responses (depending on how much CPU time your network drivers use -- you'd be surprised).

Hey, I'd be more than happy for everyone with web servers on Windows to use *nix instead; Apache + PHP + MySQL are my friends ... but I also do Apache + PHP + D3 (Pick).
