The guys at the xfree86 site say that 3.5 will be available in a couple of
weeks. That was a month ago. Should be about ready?

i installed mandrake 6.0. this time, i hoped, xfree86 would
work, but, again, it did not. having had luck with xfree86.3.3.3.3
before, i just downloaded everything from the xfree site, and,
got it to work. i dont' quite understand why that would be.
(assuming both versions are the same ... ??? )
however, while, freshly after installation xwindows works just fine,
as soon as i try to reboot i am stuck with :
starting x font server :
and that's it. doesn't move anymore after this, and the
only fix i have found so far is to reinstall the whole works.
wherupon, of course, xfree won't work anymore.
would anybody know of a way to fix things without reinstalling everything
? or even if i have to, what do i have to whatch out for, when i overwrite
the included xfree86.
