If you want to try an intelligent dialer, one that tries to figure out what
the dialup server and sents it,. then install and configure wvdial

all you have to do is install it, then read the man page, (its very simple I
think you do something like: wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf

It will then look for your modem, configure it and write all the details to
the file wvdial.conf in /etc

then you open that file in a text editor, and put your username and password
and dialup number where it indicates you should and save it..

then simply type "wvdial &" in a console to start the connection, wvdial
will monitor any requests made by the dial up server and answer with
'hopefully' whatever the server wanted.

works flawlessly in the vast majority of cases and saves you having to mess
around with dialup scripts and the like.

good luck.

bud, this is most likely a failed login or password problem (maybe even
timming out durring login as you type not as fast as the computer puts in
the
info, as well as the posiblity that your ISP does not allow script auth. do
you see an error number?
