Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. Every ISP supports it since it is the Windows default Call your ISP to check. Mandrake includes a choice of three DHCP clients.
IF DHCP is not used, you must enter them manually into kppp setup or /etc/resolv.conf (must be done separately on every machine on your local net, not only the gateway machine). A phone call and your ISP will be glad to tell you all his DSP IP dotted-quad addresses.
I'm afraid we live in a darker side of the universe. Calling the isp for us is pretty much 0% chance.
What do you mean? This information is a basic ISP service. If there is any difficulty you most certainly need to cut your losses and get another, a real, ISP. You can also use the Dynamic Name Servers of any other ISP, did you know?
