Hello Anders. Thanks for the reply. I have tried XFCE for the first time, and have mixed feelings about it. It may be because I have not got to grips with it, but it seems to be rather limited in what it can do. Comparing the program as supplied on Mandrake9.1 with the documentation, most of the utilities seem to be missing. I'll give it a longer tryout and see if I can sort it. XFCE certainly appears to be one of the most popular lightweight desktops. Cheers Keith
