If you've spent an equal amount of time 'reinstalling Linux releases and
upgrading packages' compared to Windows, you are doing something seriously
wrong (not that that is unexpected, like I said before, it's not what you are
used to). There are no Blaster or Sobig worms for Linux, and never will be.
There is no flaw in any web browser on the Linux platform that would allow total
compromise of the system simply by loading a webpage with maliciouse code. The
worst flaw we've seen in any Linux distro in the last year has been the
privelege escalation bug in the kernel, and even that required that the
'cracker' have or know of an existing user account. I've said it before and I'll
say it again: I would put a default install of Mandrake 9 with an old kernel and
no firewall up against a fully patched, firewalled, and properly configured (ie.
getting rid of the default root password......blank?) Windows box any day of the
week.

...and if you've spent only 70 dollars in all these years, then:

a) you've never upgraded beyond Win98, you've never used any Office component,
any Adobe product other than the reader, or done anything but code in TSE and
play Solitaire.

or

b) you've warez'd a whole whack of apps (hey, we've all been there)

It doesn't, it's fun, get a sense of humour.

...okaaaaay, so Windows 'adapts' to your preferences? I guess you missed my post
below, about 'man xmodmap'. Does Windows let you completely remap the keyboard
to suit your taste? Does Windows allow you to choose from dozens of radically
different GUI interfaces, some that get you off the mouse completely (Screen,
RatPoison)?

No, it doesn't, so don't even attempt to paint the Linux desktop as inflexible
or unresponsive, Windows won that race a long time ago, and that's why we like
to call it 'winblows' or 'winsux', because, well, it just does.

LOL! This is fun, keep 'em comin'!
