Why don't I?

Sebastian, I've gone through 3 separate installs of linux, and now have 
begun running Xconfigurator from a console, and attempting to get my video 
to work, but it just flakes.

The one thing I've seen everyone suggesting is to run XF86Config if I can't 
get Xconfigurator, but I don't know where to load this from at the prompt? 
What directory, Etc.

I see the Cirrus cards shown as compatible, but it's not working 
right...it's also affirming my ideas of LINUX as a pain in the neck to config.
