My .02 and my modus operandi: Replace the seals now and call it preventive maintenance. You'll need to learn how sooner or later, and the neccessary parts are cheap enuf.
Don't-fix-it-if-it-ain't-broke is one way of looking at it. The other way is, fix it right the first time, you won't need to do it a second time.
