Yea I wasn't implying that it should run bad at below 3K, mine will take a 1K roll on fine , it just doesn't have much power down that low. +1 for the comment about them being cold blooded stock as well, because the factory has them too lean. Mine stock did have a 2500 or so RPM stumble, I think the washer mod fixed that. Adjusting the pilots made it warm up much faster and now it only needs choke when it is like 40 degrees or colder. I would recommend Seafoam, cleaning the carbs (since you said it is a new bike for you, you might not know how it was treated before), and yes, the washer mod. It is a very cheap, easy to implement modification which I love. It really changes the character of the bike, but in a very subtle way. I also apply the washer mod in my wife's Suzuki gs500e, and it makes run much better too. Javier.
