Lots of variants shown using Google keys of

network timeout

network timeout outlook

I don’t know which would be relevant to the/your user’s setup.

There is also the consideration of POP3 – or IMAP with synchronisation of the
Gmail to the user’s store

For a start maybe see

And – maybe (if corporate? Policy) and the user are OK with the idea – install
a network traffic monitoring facility

I found out why one user was having problems when a simple traffic summary
facility showed massive resends (over 90% of traffic) from the user – the ISP
facility was not acknowledging the ‘got-that-send-next-bit’ processes from the
user.

They never told me why, or what they did to fix the problem – but suddenly, 2
days after a complaint to their management identifying the problem as their
systems, in that the user’s PC had no problems when moved to another site –
everything started working ‘properly’.

There are no other users in the office having this specific problem. I
remember this had happened prior to a recent fresh OS install as well.

Could it be a setting in the Gmail settings online?

Offline/online establishes a new connection. Is the client using roc/https? Are
there intervening network devices that might have a timeout?

Maybe check what the (response waiting) timeout period is

I have a client that seems to have this problem often. Email will suddenly
stop updating in Outlook. Forcing a send/receive and restarting doesn’t help.
What does seem to help is taking Outlook offline, then back online. Doesn’t
anyone have a permanent solution for this?

Its been an on and off issue for just one person for quite some time out.

Thanks,

Jimmy
