The API for the "web plugin" I had in mind that is looking for some
standards or specs or ideas, is the one described here:

http://martinpaljak.net/SmartCardWebApplet.html

When I was talking about "signature plugins" I meant plugins that had
the purpose of generating a legally binding signature by talking to
the smart card via the plugin/applet. But I don't have other prior
work to look for examples for the rest of the API.
