I think Apple would probably have some interesting words to say to Sun if we went that route :)

I certainly think we could do a better job of providing additional themes and backgrounds in pkg format (and that's something it ought to be quite easy for the OpenSolaris community to help out with).

As for the default theme, it's always going to have to be something reasonably neutral in style and colour, so as to be usable and acceptable out-of-the-box for the widest range of home and corporate users (many of whom have quite conservative tastes!), whilst still reflecting certain elements of Sun's branding. I've no doubt the visual design team will continue to refine it in subsequent releases, but I'm not sure we'll be seeing anything completely new anytime soon.
