I'm not sure that it is a recommended way, but a
possible workaround should be to install rge into
/platform/i86pc/kernel/drv  and
/platform/i86pc/kernel/drv/amd64
directories, instead of /kernel/drv.

/platform/i86pc/kernel/drv is higher priority directory
in searching drivers than /kernel/drv.

It worked for me.
