Dante,

I put a fan in a 7500 in the very location you are talking about. You're
right. The 7500 did not come, stock, with a fan but the mounting holes, etc...
are there - plain as day.

I mounted the fan in the drive compartment but set it to blowing outward onto
the processor card heat-sink. The power supply fan, then, pulls the air
through the main compartment and out through the power supply. The fan is
connected to the same cables as the HDs.

I did this because I use the machine as a server. I put two 10,000RPM drives
in it and a 350MHz processor. I was, also, not concerned about the extra noise
because it lives in my basement with other noise-making equipment.

Hello:

Just got a 7500 used. It has an extra fan kicking around in the drive
bay, which appears to theoretically be blowing on the processor--ie. it
is there, but was not connected to a power source. The repair manual
for this machine does not show a fan in this location--though the case
is clearly designed for one. Has anyone ever seen a fan in this
location, and if so, does it blow or suck on the processor? Since it is
in there, I guess I might as well wire it up and use it--just need to
know which way it should be blowing air.

Thanks.
