As you can see, I have rummaged in my collection of PCI digests and found
this to stop me asking too many more damned fool questions about 7600.
PeterH, in a post around the same time, suggested a bigger power supply fan
if more cooling was needed and this sounds sensible. But I happen to have
lots of fans lying around and am thinking one will do to cool things a bit
with a 10000 rpm Seagate I am fiddling with (I am thinking to just have it
and nothing on top, even to mount it a bit higher (on a stilt arrangement I
can make to give plenty of room for air flow -it being on a slider at the
bottom seems a bit restrictive where all the circuitry is). What I wanted to
ask Glen, who made a really nice pdf on the subject of fan fitting is this:
did you also test temps without any extra fan at all?

David Elmo

(Obviously quite clear now that I would have been better off with a 9600
from the start - just feel it is too late now, made my bed and I will lie in
it till G4 time)
