Acrobat 6 isn't licensed to be run as a server. If you want to run it that way, you must get a license for each station. So you might as well normalize locally. If not, you are violating the EULA. But regarding the font issue. If you are using Pagemaker and have your printer marks turned on, the text at the bottom is in Helvetica. Look around your system to find the Helvetica fonts and copy them to the Acrobat resource folder where the PS fonts go. Then restart Distiller and it should work.

By "won't embed" what do actually mean? Do you get an error message in the log file about embedding failure due to licensing restrictions OR does the distillation simply "succeed" but the font isn't embedded?
One source of problems with "embedding" Helvetica is that a large number
of end users don't actually have the font installed! The font is listed
on font menus because the PostScript printers they normally print to
have the font printer-resident. Acrobat itself doesn't have such a font.
Thus, when one "switches" to the "Adobe PDF" printer, suddenly Helvetica
isn't available.

With every job we send to Distiller 6, we get the message "Error: Helvetica not found; font cannot be embedded" when Helvetica is not being used with the job. When it is used, there is no message. The file will succeed.
All I can figure is that some other data is being sent to Distiller when the file is exported out of Quark that requires Helvetica, such as page info, that we have not set to appear with the document. I have not experimented with this much.
Our set up is as follows: We have a licensed copy of Acrobat on 2 Macs and 2 PC's. One of the PC's is acting as a server running version 6. Files are exported out of Quark 5 using the built in export utility.
