That's precisely the way the *ist-Ds out preformed the *ist-D, sure the
street value of the D was only a couple hundred more than the Ds,. but
the list price on the *ist-D was about $1600 for it's entire life as a
"current" product, not that it seemed to be available for most of that
time, but having the second tier camera be superior to the flagship in
at least some respects isn't a new thing for Pentax.
