Hi Michael

Being fairly new to Protel, I hope I'm not teaching your grandmother to
suck eggs! Have you tried the database compact and repair utilities? I
have found that if a design size gets above ~20meg or so , unpredictable
things happen. Components get lost, some grounding vias disappear, arcs
and copper pours get lost. Compacting the design cures it for me!

Neil

RE: [PEDA] Components not transferring to PCB

Again, thank you for your suggestions, Peter and Brad. Things are not
looking
good. The relay footprint is a circular pattern, and it's centered around
the
(0,0) origin. I have a much earlier PCB, before I entered the many
changes,
that has the relays on the board, along with several other components that
I
now realize are missing in the new PCB. I made a copy of it and tried to
update
it, but the changes were so many (renamed components, etc.), that it ended
up
with macros that it would not complete. It could no longer get to the new
from
the old.

I believe that I'm dealing with some type of file corruption now, but I
can't
put my finger on exactly what it is. I noticed yesterday that I had lost
the
power and ground plane assignment to the PCB, and there were no nets
available
in the dropdown to select from. Big flag on the play, there. A computer
restart
fixed that, but nothing else.

>From the PCB, I generated a footprint library and it has all the
footprints
(including the ones that are not visible on the PCB). I'm thinking about
moving
my files to another computer and see if the problem follows, using that to

isolate between problems with the Protel application itself and my DDB
files.

Thanks again, Michael
