Hi Alison,
the new door sweeps will work wonders! Last Fall I installed the same
style at home, on my back stairwell door, which leads out to the garden.
The floor is extremely uneven with a huge gap that was letting in field
mice. The door sweep has kept out mice as well as blowing leaves and
drifting snow. To install, I began with the door closed, using the
adhesive strip to tack the top edge to the door (mine is a wooden door),
making sure the gap was sealed by the flexible blade meeting the uneven
floor. I opened & closed the door to make sure the flexible blade would
sweep along and not stop the door from opening. Then I closed the door
again, and used the large tacks that came with the sweep to hammer the top
edge securely to the door. If your doors are metal, perhaps screws can be
installed to secure the door sweep in place. Best of luck with your upgrade!
